Library::A collection of haiku respectfully reproduced in this most humble volume

Haiku is a form of poetry where the first line has five syllables, the second has seven and the third, and last, line has five again.

It is considered polite to compose a haiku after the closing of a contract, longer poems are expected for more important targets.

Most of the best haiku make some mention of the beauty of nature.

The first two haiku offered for the honorable reader's appreciation were written by our very own Master Yung.

the glint of moonlight
reflecting off a steel blade
death hides in shadows

as the moon rises
the sound of footsteps recede
one more contract closed

This haiku was written by an anonymous ninja after completing his first contract.

first inhumation
I bring honour to myself
exhilaration

These next haiku were used by the guild in an unsuccessful advertising campaign.

two for one offer
pay for husband get wife free
contracts closed with style

Dishonoured? Mocked? Scorned?
Let assassins handle it
Honourable death

Take out a contract
Make your enemies live in
Interesting Times

The last two haiku were written by the guild's first female mentor; Mae Tuhung.

a whisper of silk
on a moonlit summer's night
cool breeze ruffles clothes

pebbles do not turn
the path of the errant rock
it becomes the stream
